Formatted Report

How It Works

This tool walks you through the five standard parts of a scientific lab report; fill in each field and a clean, formatted version builds itself in the preview below. When you are happy with it, use Print / Save as PDF to produce a tidy printable copy, or export the text as Markdown. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, so your work stays private on your device.

The five sections
  • Hypothesis: a testable prediction, often written as an "if… then… because…" statement that links your variables.
  • Materials: every item and quantity you used, listed so the experiment can be reproduced exactly.
  • Method / procedure: the numbered steps you followed, written clearly enough for someone else to repeat.
  • Results: your raw observations, measurements and data; report what happened without interpreting it yet.
  • Conclusion: what the results mean, whether the hypothesis was supported, likely sources of error, and next steps.
Saving multiple reports

Use New report to start a fresh write-up and switch between saved reports from the dropdown; the list is labelled by each report's title. Reports are stored in your browser's localStorage, so clearing site data or moving to another device will not carry them over. Use Download .md to keep a portable copy of anything important.

Tip: Your changes save automatically as you type; there is no save button to remember.
